Scoring (brief outline)

The layout of the courses provides an often daunting test of capability. The courses are short and sometimes spectacular as drivers and co-drivers work to persuade their machine through. No outside help or winches are permitted, with forward motion dependant on the wheels. Once the vehicle stops forward motion it is deemed to have finished that section of the course and is scored accordingly. To achieve the best placing on the day it is the competitor with the lowest score.

As great a variety of types of ground as possible, with minimum of 25 observed hazards , which at least half are graded and at least one timed section.

The start of an observed section shall be indicated by Blue Pegs, and boundaries of section indicated by Red Pegs on the right, and Yellow Pegs on the left, with minimum three and a half metres apart, measured by line of sight. The finish of an observed section shall be indicated by Blue Pegs.

Competitors will attempt to negotiate observed sections non-stop. The leading hub centre must pass grading pegs to get those points indicated or it goes back to the one prior, and past the blue finish pegs to gain a Zero which is the best result you can achieve.

Vehicles must not flatten, straddle pegs or run over boundary pegs if graded. But may do so if non-graded but each peg shall be worth 20 points up to 5 pegs when after this you would receive maximum 100, providing the vehicle does have one wheel with in line of boundary pegs on that boundary.

The start pegs will indicate the greatest penalty, and the finish pegs the least penalty.
